    Hobart Benefactor
William Elliott was a special inductee into the Hall of Fame. He was a true supporter of Hobart and William Smith sports, and he established the Lewis Elliott Memorial Scholarship in 1965 in memory of his father, who was a member of the Hobart class of 1896. Elliott's devotion to Hobart and William Smith stemmed largely from his friendships with Rod Ross and Jim Bampton. Over 80 Hobart and William Smith students have received the prestigious designation "Elliott Scholar" which recognizes financial need, stellar citizenship, diligence in academic pursuits, and commitment to athletics. A major donor to the Hobart and William Smith Sport and Recreation Center, the Elliott Varsity House was named in his honor. Mr. Elliott served as a Trustee and Honorary Trustee of Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1965-89 and received the LL.D. degree from Hobart and William Smith in 1964.
