A two-sport all-star, DeMaria excelled in basketball and lacrosse. On the hardwood, the four-time letterman scored 1,113 career points, completing his career fifth on the school’s all-time list (currently 13th). DeMaria was a dogged defender as well, logging a career record 181 steals, while his 63 thefts in 1988-89 rank second all-time. A two-time All-ICAC selection, he earned the team’s most improved award as a junior and the MVP award as a senior. DeMaria’s final campaign in Bristol Gym saw him score 15.1 points per game, while leading the Statesmen in assists (105), steals (63), and free throw percentage (82%).

In lacrosse, DeMaria was an exceptional midfielder, playing on four straight NCAA Division III National Championship teams. A two-time first-team All-American, he scored 57 goals as a senior—the fifth-highest total in Hobart history—on his way to the Division III Midfielder of the Year Award. DeMaria completed his career with 92 goals, 15 assists, and 190 ground balls. He was named the 1990 Babe Kraus Award winner, and a North-South Senior All-Star.

DeMaria graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Following graduation, he entered the business world in Phoenix, where he also served as the head coach of the Arizona State club lacrosse team. DeMaria later earned a master’s degree in finance from Georgia State.
