GENEVA, N.Y.—The sixth-ranked William Smith College soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Simmons College this afternoon on Cozzens Field. The Herons improve to 14-3-2 overall, while the Sharks wrap their season with a 12-6-3 mark.

BreLynn Nasypany put away a lead pass from first-year forward
Renee Jensen 13 minutes, 13 seconds into the game. Nasypany split two defenders to break free for a shot from about 15 yards out. The goal marked her team-leading seventh of the year.
The Herons increased their lead to 2-0 in the 25th minute, as Nasypany sent a cross to sophomore forward
Kate Redmond for a shot from 4 yards out. The tally was Redmond’s fifth of the season.
William Smith outshot the Sharks 21-2, and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Amanda Davis collected two saves on the way to her 13th shutout of the season, while senior Rachel Elliott recorded 10 saves in net for Simmons.
William Smith will be back in action on Cozzens Field tomorrow, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. The Herons will take on the 15th-ranked Ithaca, who defeated Muhlenberg 1-0 to advance.
