Vincent garners 3rd consecutive weekly award

Hobart punter Tyler Vincent was named the Liberty League Co-Special Teams Performer of the Week by the league office today. It is the third consecutive week he has been so honored.

Vincent averaged 36 yards per punt in the Statesmen’s 34-20 win at Rochester. He dropped three of his four punts inside the Yellowjackets’ 20. Vincent also caught nine passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns and completed two passes for 53 yards and a TD.

Vincent finished the season third in the conference in punting (34.5 yds/p) and fifth in receiving yards per game (54.7). Hobart ranked first in the Liberty League in net punting, as opponents returned just six of Vincent’s 39 punts this season for a grand total of 10 yards.

For his career, Vincent caught 116 passes for 1,383 yards and 16 touchdowns in 30 games. He ranks sixth in Hobart history in career receptions and receiving touchdowns and ninth in receiving yards. Vincent also rushed for 117 yards (7.8 yds/att), completed 7-of-9 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown, and averaged 35.5 yards per punt.

Hobart finished the season riding a four-game winning streak. The Statesmen were 6-3 overall, 5-2 in the conference (3rd place).

Joe Gibbons
Hobart Basketball
Gibbons averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen. He scored 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two steals at RPI. The following afternoon, Gibbons had 15 points and seven rebounds at Skidmore. For the week, he shot 64 percent from the floor and made all five of his free throw attempts.

Mitchell went 4-0 at the Smith Round Robin over the weekend. Playing in the No. 7 and No. 8 spots in the order, she posted 3-0 sweeps of her opposition against Smith (a 6-3 Heron win), Northeastern (W 8-1), and Wellesley (L, 3-6). Vassar's Katherine Cornish was the only player to take a game from Mitchell this weekend. After dropping the opening game 11-9, Mitchell bounced back with 11-7, 11-3, 11-4 wins to take the match 3-1. She has the team's best individual record this winter (7-5) and has won five straight matches.
