William Smith senior
Kaitlyn Hamilton completed her collegiate field hockey career with an impressive resume that includes a long list of accomplishments and accolades. Today, that list got a little longer.
Hamilton was named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America third team. This is her second All-American award following a first team selection in 2007.
As a forward playing in the midfield, Hamilton finished second on the team and ninth in the conference in goals with nine and was fourth on the team with 22 points. She recorded five points (2g-1a) in the season opener against Elmira and tied the William Smith game record with four goals against Oswego seven days later.
Hamilton is a four-time All-Liberty League and NFHCA All-Region selection, gracing both organizations’ first teams three times. She was also the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in 2006. Hamilton notched 48 career goals and 18 assists for 114 points. A starter in 74 consecutive games, she ranks sixth all-time in career goals, seventh in career points, and is tied for 15th in career assists.
Hamilton played her final collegiate game on Nov. 22, participating in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game at Mount Holyoke College.
During her four seasons on campus, Hamilton and the Herons were 52-25 (.675), winning the Liberty League regular season and tournament championships twice. In 2006, William Smith advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals and a year later made the NCAA regional semifinals. The Herons were 9-8 this season, marking the program’s 25th consecutive winning season.
