Two Hobart basketball players were honored by the Liberty League today. Junior
Adam Salzmann was tabbed the Co-Forward of the Week, while first-year guard
Stefan Thompson was named the Co-Rookie of the Week by the league office.
Salzmann scored a team-high 17 points and collected a team-high seven rebounds in a 68-63 loss to Rochester on Wednesday. He made 6-of-10 from the floor, including a game-high four three pointers. He also registered two steals and blocked a shot.
In seven games this season, Salzmann is averaging 7.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.9 steals. He ranks sixth in the conference in rebounding and seventh in steals.
Thompson netted 15 points and dished out a game-high four assists against the Yellowjackets. He connected on 4-of-8 shots from the floor and 7-of-10 from the free throw line.
The only first-year to start for Hobart his year, Thompson is producing 15.1 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.0 steals. He is shooting a team-best .646 from the floor and .792 from the free throw line. Also among the conference leaders, Thompson is fourth in field goal percentage, sixth in scoring, and seventh in free throw shooting.
Hobart has a 4-3 record heading into the holiday break. The Statesmen will be back in action on Jan. 2, when they square off with Roger Williams in the opening round of the Merchant Marine Academy Tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
