William Smith College first-year
Lucy Johnson (Millburn/Short Hills, N.J.) was named the Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week this afternoon by the conference office. This is the fourth time she has earned the award.
Johnson led William Smith's offense for the second week in a row, totaling eight goals and three assists, while adding nine ground balls and five draw controls. She tallied two goals and two helpers in a 19-10 win over Ithaca early in the week, notched four goals and an assist in a 15-5 victory at Skidmore on Friday, and added two goals the next day vs. Union.
Johnson leads the team in assists (13) and shares the team lead in points (50). She ranks second on the team in goals (37), game-winning goals (3), ground balls (35) and draw controls (26). Johnson is eighth in the Liberty League in points (3.57) and assists (0.93) per game, and ranks ninth in goals per game (2.64).
The 14th-ranked Herons (11-3) will be back in action on May 1, when they travel to Union to take on sixth-ranked Hamilton (12-2) in the first round of the Liberty League Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Fans unable to make it to Schenectady can listen live on
