Colburn, Cassell garner ECAC honors
Jeff Colburn and Tyler Cassell
Hobart College attackman Jeff Colburn and midfielder Tyler Cassell were elected to the 2009 All-ECAC Lacrosse League second team by a vote of the conference’s coaches.

A three-year starter, Colburn led the Statesmen this season with 39 points, netting 21 goals and assisting on a team-high 18. He posted a season-high five points in Hobart’s 12-7 season-opening win at Saint Joseph’s. He ranked third in the conference in assists per game (1.29) and fourth in points per game (2.79).

In 54 career games, Colburn recorded 64 goals and 48 assists for 112 points. Among Division I Statesmen, he ranks 5th in assists, 6th in points, and 8th in goals. Colburn scored at least one point in each of his final 18 career games.

Cassell led Hobart and ranked 13th in the ECAC with 22 goals this season. In 14 games, he produced three hat tricks, including a four-goal performance at Providence. Cassell scored at least one goal in all but one contest this year. He was fifth in the conference in extra-man goals, netting a team-high six. A breakthrough performance, Cassell entered his junior campaign with just three points in 21 games.

Hobart finished the 2009 slate with a 7-7 overall record. The Statesmen counted a pair of triumphs over top-20 teams among their seven wins, a 7-2 victory over then No. 20 Bucknell and a 15-8 defeat of then No. 11 Georgetown.
