Allen, Scheibel earn all-tournament accolades

William Smith College senior Torie Allen (Governor’s Academy/Dedham, Mass.) and first-year Rosie Scheibel (Auburn/Auburn, N.Y.) were recently named to the Liberty League Women’s Lacrosse All-Tournament Team. The Herons finished the season with an 11-4 overall record, and ranked 13th in Division III in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll.

In William Smith’s Liberty League semifinal game against eventual conference champion and eighth-ranked Hamilton, Allen led the Heron defense with four ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers. For the season, she collected a team-high 56 ground balls, won a team-high 51 draws, and registered a team-high 35 caused turnovers. A four-year starter, and two-time All-Liberty League first team selection, Allen finished her career ranked first in William Smith’s records book in career draw controls (124), second in caused turnovers (84), and eighth in ground balls (166).

Scheibel led the Heron offense against the Continentals, tallying two goals and an assist. She had a hand in two Heron goals in the final minute of the first half, scoring one and assisting on the other, to cut William Smith’s deficit to 7-5 at the break. Scheibel went on to score again in the second stanza. She wrapped up her first season as a Heron with 18 goals and three helpers in 12 games.

Rosie Scheibel
William Smith Lacrosse
Scheibel led William Smith against Nazareth on Saturday, netting three goals to record her third career hat trick. She scored twice in the first half, including a free-position goal, and tallied once in the second half.

Hobart Lacrosse
Pedersen shared game-high honors with four points, including his first hat trick of the season, as the Statesmen defeated Colgate 12-9. He helped Hobart race out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter with a pair of goals. After the Raiders rallied to pull within a single goal, he set up #Mike Suits# to give the Statesmen a 9-7 lead. Pedersen also scored Hobart’s final goal of the day. Through two games, he shares the team lead with six points.
