Torie Allen and Lucy Johnson
Two William Smith College lacrosse players recently received postseason honors from the web site womenslacrosse.com. Defender Torie Allen ’09 was tabbed a third-team All-American, while midfielder Lucy Johnson ’12 earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

A four-year starter, Allen led the Herons in ground balls (56), draw controls (51), and caused turnovers (30). She ranked second in the Liberty League in both ground balls and draws and was third in caused turnovers (27th in the nation). Allen collected a season-high eight GBs at Hamilton, twice corralled a season-high six draws, and forced a season-high four turnovers against Vassar.

A two-time All-Liberty League selection, Allen also earned IWLCA first-team All-Region honors this season. She holds the William Smith career record for draws (124), ranks second in caused turnovers (84), and is eighth in ground balls (166).

The only first-year to start every game for the Herons this season, Johnson finished second on the team in goals (37) and points (50) and shared the team lead in assists (13). All all-around talent, she also ranked second on the team in draws (29) and third in ground balls. Johnson produced a season-high seven points (6g, 1a) at Clarkson.

The Liberty League Rookie of the Year also earned IWLCA second-team All-Region honors.

William Smith finished the year with an 11-4 overall record, ranked 13th in the nation in the final IWLCA poll.

Kevin Curtin
Hobart Lacrosse
Facing the toughest defense in the nation, Curtin posted his third consecutive hat trick. He completed his collegiate career with a three-goal performance at Bryant on Thursday. The Bulldogs came into the contest allowing just 6.44 goals per game, but the Statesmen netted nine goals, the second highest total against Bryant this season. Curtin capped his career 11th in career goals and career points and 12th in career assists.

William Smith Rowing
DiPalma served as the coxswain for the William Smith varsity eight that finished second in the petite final at the ECAC Championships on Sunday. In their morning heat, the Herons committed a false start, but then turned in the third fastest time of the heats (out of 20 crews in three heats). William Smith covered the course in 6:59.640, then logged a time of 6:57.688 in the petite final, second only to Division I New Hampshire.
