On the heels of yesterday’s Liberty League Forward of the Week Award, Hobart's Matt Pebole was named the ECAC Upstate Men’s Basketball Player of the Week today.

Pebole played a central role in the Statesmen’s 99-97 double overtime victory against Buffalo State on Jan. 5. He scored a career-high 36 points, connecting on 14-of-23 shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 from behind the arc, and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Pebole netted 11 of Hobart’s 13 points in the second overtime. He also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds against the Bengals.

On Jan. 9 at Hamilton, Pebole connected on 6-of-7 shots and grabbed four rebounds in 19 first half minutes. He did not play in the second half of the 68-66 loss due to an injury.

Through Jan. 10, Pebole ranks 25th in the nation in field goal percentage (.613) and 46th in scoring (20.3 ppg). He leads the Liberty League in scoring and is second in rebounding (7.3 rpg), fourth in field goal percentage, and 10th in free throw shooting (.744).

Hobart (7-5, 0-1) is back in action on Jan. 15, when the Statesmen visit conference rival Skidmore (7-4, 0-0). Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Fans can follow the action online with Live Stats.
