SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team dropped a 77-62 Liberty League decision at Skidmore tonight. The loss drops the Statesmen to 7-6, 0-2 in the conference, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 9-4, 2-0.

Rezin Davis and Greg Stern notched season-highs to lead Hobart. Davis was 6-of-9 from the floor with three threes and a free throw for a team-high 16 points, while Stern was 3-of-5, all from beyond the arc, with a pair of free throws for 11 points. Tim Llewellyn chipped in 10 points for the Statesmen. Sean Peer collected a season-high 10 rebounds to help Hobart to a 44-31 advantage on the glass.

Skidmore's Jeff Altimar led all scorers with 26 points, draining five three-pointers. Sakhile Sithole was the only other Thoroughbred to hit double figures, posting 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Statesmen were undone by a poor shooting performance in the first half. Hobart connected on just 9-of-31 (29%) in the first 20 minutes, while the host team connected on 17-of-30 (56.7%).

The Thoroughbreds outscored the Statesmen 23-11 over the final six minutes of the first half to take a 45-27 lead into the break. Gerard O’Shea scored seven points during the run.

Skidmore led by as many as 20 in the second half. Stern hit consecutive threes to get Hobart to within 13, 60-47 with 11:41 to play, but that was a close as the Statesmen would get.

Hobart is back in action at 4 p.m. on Jan. 16, when the Statesmen visit Union. Fans can follow the action online with Live Stats and streaming video.
