Davis snags conference award

Hobart first-year guard Rezin Davis was named the Liberty League Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week today by the conference office. He led the Statesmen to a 2-1 week on the road, averaging 12.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.

Against Potsdam on Jan. 11, Davis had five points in a 64-56 Hobart win. At Skidmore on Jan. 15, he scored a team-high 16 points, grabbed three boards, and dished out three assists in a 77-62 loss. At Union the following afternoon, Davis produced a game-high 15 points, collected three boards, and blocked a shot in a 64-50 victory. For the week, he shot 65 percent from the floor, including 8-of-13 from behind the three-point arc, and 2-of-3 from the free throw line.

Davis has played in all 14 games for the Statesmen, averaging 19.8 minutes. He is fifth on the team in scoring (6.9 ppg), while contributing 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Hobart (8-6, 1-2 Liberty League) returns home following a four-game road swing. The Statesmen will host conference rival Vassar (2-10, 0-2) at 8 p.m. on Jan. 22, and Rensselaer (9-3, 1-1) at 4 p.m. on Jan. 23. Both contests will be broadcast live on WHWS-FM (105.7). Abbie DiPalma
William Smith Rowing
DiPalma served as the coxswain for the William Smith varsity eight that finished second in the petite final at the ECAC Championships on Sunday. In their morning heat, the Herons committed a false start, but then turned in the third fastest time of the heats (out of 20 crews in three heats). William Smith covered the course in 6:59.640, then logged a time of 6:57.688 in the petite final, second only to Division I New Hampshire.

Hobart Lacrosse
Facing the toughest defense in the nation, Curtin posted his third consecutive hat trick. He completed his collegiate career with a three-goal performance at Bryant on Thursday. The Bulldogs came into the contest allowing just 6.44 goals per game, but the Statesmen netted nine goals, the second highest total against Bryant this season. Curtin capped his career 11th in career goals and career points and 12th in career assists.
