The start of the 108th Hobart College lacrosse season is just one month away. The Statesmen’s 14-game schedule is highlighted by a trio of televised contests.

Hobart’s March 27 trip to ECAC Lacrosse League rival Fairfield will be televised on the ECAC Lacrosse League Network—the channel lineup covers 40 million homes and includes national network FOX College Sports and the regional Time Warner Cable Sports channels in Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse—while the home games on March 23 (against Syracuse) and May 1 (against Air Force) will air on Time Warner Cable Sports.

Additionally, all of Hobart’s home games can be seen online.

Half of the Statesmen’s opponents from a year ago are gone as conferences across the country realigned. The ECAC Lacrosse League will welcome new members Air Force, Bellarmine, Denver, Ohio State, and Quinnipiac, replacing Georgetown, Massachusetts, Penn State, Rutgers, and St. John’s. Hobart will also face Bryant and Colgate in non-conference games, replacing Providence and Saint Joseph’s.

This year’s slate will begin where the 2009 campaign left off, against Cornell (13-4 in ’09). The Big Red, who survived a furious comeback bid for an 8-7 win in the regular season finale, will visit McCooey Field at 1 p.m. on Feb. 27. The two schools will square off for the 130th time in a series that dates back to 1898.

Following trips to Colgate (9-6)—the Raiders return to Hobart’s schedule for the first time since 2004—and Bucknell (9-7), the Statesmen return to McCooey Field for three straight home games. The string begins at 3:30 p.m. on March 16 when Binghamton (3-12) comes to town. Conference play kicks off four days later when Hobart faces off with Quinnipiac (4-9) at 1 p.m. The homestand will end when Syracuse (16-2) makes the short ride down the Thruway on March 23.

The Statesmen will return to the road for four of its next five games. Hobart will visit Fairfield (7-6) and Denver (7-8), host Ohio State (8-8) on April 10 at noon, and then travel to Canisius (4-9) and Bellarmine (6-8). The quintet of contests will see the Statesmen travel more than 5,300 miles in 21 days.

Hobart will celebrate Senior Day when it hosts Loyola (9-5) on the final home Saturday of the season (April 24, 1 p.m.). The Statesmen close out their home slate at 7 p.m. on May 1, when the Air Force Falcons (7-7) come to town.

Hobart will end the regular season at Bryant (10-5) at 4 p.m. on May 6.

Admission to the first three home games of the season is free. Beginning with the Syracuse game on March 23, normal ticket prices ($5 for general admission, $1 for children under 12) will be in effect.
