GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith swimming and diving team lost to visiting RIT 139-97 in Bristol Pool tonight. The Tigers improved to 4-6 in dual meets, while the Herons slip to 4-2.

William Smith's Katie Stebbins won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 14.20 seconds, while the 200 free relay of Casey Sherwin, Charlotte Scott, Ellen Ellison, and Lindsay Simonson also emerged from the pool victorious with a time of 1:49.11.

Scott also finished second in both the 200 IM (2:25.18) and the 500 free (5:33.18)

RIT was led by dual winners Cat Jones and Caitlyn Burr. Jones led a 1-2 Tiger sweep on the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, while Burr captured the 200 free (1:58.62) and the 500 free (5:15.92). Burr also swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay (1:57.12) with Jenna Hoffman, Kerzia Hopson, and Rachel Redfern.

The Herons are back in the pool at noon on Jan. 30, when they travel to Aurora for a tri-meet with Wells and Cazenovia.

Hobart Basketball
Gibbons averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen. He scored 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two steals at RPI. The following afternoon, Gibbons had 15 points and seven rebounds at Skidmore. For the week, he shot 64 percent from the floor and made all five of his free throw attempts.

Mitchell went 4-0 at the Smith Round Robin over the weekend. Playing in the No. 7 and No. 8 spots in the order, she posted 3-0 sweeps of her opposition against Smith (a 6-3 Heron win), Northeastern (W 8-1), and Wellesley (L, 3-6). Vassar's Katherine Cornish was the only player to take a game from Mitchell this weekend. After dropping the opening game 11-9, Mitchell bounced back with 11-7, 11-3, 11-4 wins to take the match 3-1. She has the team's best individual record this winter (7-5) and has won five straight matches.
