For their roles in a 40-33 win at Merchant Marine, four members of the Hobart football team were honored by the Liberty League office today. Junior wide receiver
Garth Muratori was tabbed the Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, junior linebacker
Reggie Robinson earned a share of the Defensive Performer of the Week award, junior kicker
Conor Callahan scored Co-Special Teams Performer of the Week honors, and first-year strong safety
Devin Worthington won Co-Rookie of the Week accolades.
Muratori recorded seven catches for a career-high matching 129 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. His scoring plays covered 41, 23, and 10 yards. Muratori finished the day one off the Hobart record for TD receptions in a game. He has 19 receptions for 305 yards and six touchdowns through six games. Muratori leads the conference in receiving touchdowns and ranks third in yards per reception (16.1) and scoring (6.0 ppg), fourth in receiving yards per game (50.8), and sixth in receptions per game (3.17).
Robinson made a team-high 10 tackles, including nine solo. Three of his stops came behind the line of scrimmage and he also forced a fumble that led to a third quarter Hobart touchdown. Robinson leads the Statesmen and is fourth in the conference in tackles (57, 9.5/g).
Callahan scored a season-high matching eight points against the Mariners. He converted all five of his PATs and split the uprights with his only field goal attempt, a 23-yarder. Callahan has made 35 consecutive PATs, five shy of the Hobart record. He is second in the conference in scoring, producing 5.2 points per game.
Worthington logged nine tackles on Saturday. He counted game-highs of 3.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks among his stops. Worthington's first tackle of the game was a sack in the Merchant Marine end zone. The safety gave the Statesmen a 9-0 lead. He also recovered a pair of fumbles. The first led to a third quarter touchdown, while the second set up a fourth quarter field goal. Worthington leads the Liberty League in tackles for a loss (2.5/g) and sacks (1.25/g) and is seventh in tackles (8.3/g).
Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 30, when the Statesmen host conference rival WPI. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Boswell Field at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation.
