GENEVA, N.Y.—
The ninth-ranked Heron soccer team defeated No. 13 Oneonta State 2-1 in an NCAA Tournament Third Round game played at Cozzens Field this afternoon. The win gave William Smith Head Coach Aliceann Wilber 422 for her career, tying Rochester's Terry Gurnett for first place on the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer all-time list.

The Herons (17-2-3) will take on Williams in an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal game tomorrow at Cozzens Field at 1 p.m. The Ephs are tied with William Smith at No. 9 in the most recent NSCAA National Rankings. Williams defeated Eastern Connecticut State 2-0 in the other third round game played at Cozzens Field this afternoon.

In the 38th minute, junior Jamie Sawyer fired a shot on goal that was saved by Oneonta's junior keeper Amy Lusby, but she could not hang on to the ball. Sawyer was there to collect the rebound and put a shot into the back of the net to give William Smith a 1-0 lead

Junior Chelsea England put the Herons up 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Sophomore Kelsey Hill sent a crossing pass from the right side of the field to senior BreLynn Nasypany. Nasypany was right in front of the goal and headed a pass over to England who scored her fifth goal of the season.

Nasypany's 13 helpers this season set a new William Smith record for assists in a season. Her 32 career assists also tie her with Julie Perry '89 for second on that William Smith list. Nasypany also ranks second with 136 career points.

Oneonta (17-5-2) got on the scoreboard in the 83rd minute, when first-year Melissa Guglielmo found the back of the net after a pass from senior Nha Wright. It was Guglielmo's third goal of the season.

The Red Dragons held a 12-5 advantage in shots. The Herons took six corner kicks, while Oneonta recorded three. Junior Amanda Davis finished with five saves in goal for William Smith, and Lusby registered 12 saves for the Red Dragons.
