“The Heron Society Board of Directors believes this change in our brand will clearly identify that membership in the Heron Society supports William Smith Athletics,” Heron Society President Dr. Cindy Oyler Teerlinck ’93 said.

“While this might appear to be a small change in our logo, it speaks volumes about the connection of the Heron Society to William Smith Athletics and that link allows our student-athletes to be successful in their sport, the classroom and our community,” William Smith Director of Athletics Deb Steward added.

The Heron Society provides meaningful financial support for the William Smith Athletics Department, funding winter and spring training team travel, game and practice apparel, the Peak Performance Plan—which provides leadership and life skills training to student-athletes—and state-of-the-art recruiting and video editing software and equipment. The Heron Society also fosters camaraderie among alumnae, Hobart alumni, parents and friends by sponsoring gatherings, awards banquets, and the Heron Hall of Honor.

From its modest beginnings in 1983, the Heron Society has seen its membership swell more than 360 percent over the past 25 years, while financial giving has increased an amazing 723 percent. In 2008-09, the Heron Society set records for membership and total income.

Membership in the Heron Society is open to everyone. To join the Heron Society, visit www.hws.edu/onlinegiving.

Facing the toughest defense in the nation, Curtin posted his third consecutive hat trick. He completed his collegiate career with a three-goal performance at Bryant on Thursday. DiPalma served as the coxswain for the William Smith varsity eight that finished second in the petite final at the ECAC Championships on Sunday.
