Salvatore tabbed Liberty League Rookie of the Week

William Smith first-year guard Sydni Salvatore was named the Liberty League Women's Basketball Co-Guard of the Week by the conference office today. She averaged 11.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Herons.

At Rensselaer on Friday, Salvatore scored seven points in a 62-57 setback. The following day at Vassar, she scored a season-high 15 points, grabbed three rebounds, and made three steals in a 70-63 double overtime win. Salvatore drained a pair of threes to key a 9-0 Heron run to start the second overtime period. For the week, she shot a team-high 54.5 percent from the floor, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc, and sank 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

Salvatore played in 22 games, starting seven for William Smith. She averaged 4.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals.

Plagued by injuries and illness, the Herons finished the campaign with an 8-16 overall record. They were 4-10 in the conference.
