GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College lost to visiting Hamilton College 60-51 in a Liberty League Women’s Basketball contest tonight. Ashlinn Barber and the Continentals' Madie Harlem shared game-high honors with 18 points apiece.

Barber scored the game’s opening basket, but Hamilton (13-7, 6-4) scored the next seven points to take a lead it never relinquished. The Continentals used seven unanswered points to stretch their lead to 12, 23-11, 5:54 before halftime and took a 31-21 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Hamilton seized its largest lead of the game, 13, twice in the early going, both times on baskets by Harlem. After the second at the 15:34 mark, William Smith (6-14, 2-8) used a 10-2 run to get within five, but, after the teams traded baskets, Reisa Asimovic made a three and a layup on consecutive trips down the floor to put her team up 10 with 9:06 remaining.

The Herons made one last push to regain the lead, netting seven unanswered points to make it a 54-50 game with 2:53 to go. Harlem quelled the threat with a traditional three-point play as the Continentals ended the game on a 6-1 run.

Asimovic finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Blue Sanders added 10 points for Hamilton.

Kristen Kush joined Barber in double digits, netting 12 points, while Carrie Stevens contributed eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

William Smith will continue its five-game homestand at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12, when the Herons host Clarkson. The Continentals will return home to face St. Lawrence at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12.
