William Smith College seniors
Molly Fitzgerald and
Brittany Callaghan were honored by the Liberty League office this afternoon. Fitzgerald was named the Women's Lacrosse Offensive Performer of the Week, while Callaghan was tabbed the Co-Defensive Performer of the Week. Last week, they guided the Herons to victories over St. John Fisher 22-21 and Geneseo 21-13.
Fitzgerald tallied 16 points on 11 goals and five assists for the Herons. She notched five goals and two helpers vs. the Cardinals on Tuesday, and added six goals and three assists in the win over the Knights on Saturday. Fitzgerald also recorded seven ground balls, four draw controls, and three caused turnovers on the week.
An attacker, Fitzgerald currently leads the Liberty League in assists per game (2.20), ranks second in points per game (5.20), and is fourth in goals per game (3.00).
Callaghan registered five points, eight ground balls, six draw controls, and three caused turnovers for the Herons. At St. John Fisher, she tallied two goals, three ground balls, five draws, and a caused turnover. Against Geneseo, she collected a game-high five ground balls to go with a goal, two helpers, and two caused turnovers.
William Smith (3-2) will be back in action on April 2, when the Herons travel to Vassar for their first Liberty League contest of the year at 4 p.m.
