Silberlicht named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

Hobart goalie Max Silberlicht was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office today.

Silberlicht earned his first win of the season with a 13-save performance at Colgate. He turned back four of the five shots he faced in the first quarter, allowing the Statesmen to build a 6-1 lead through the first 15 minutes. Silberlicht also stopped four (of six) shots in the third quarter.

Through two games, Silberlicht has a .578 save percentage and a 9.50 goals against average. He is second in the conference and 12th in the nation in save percentage.

Bobby Dattilo
Teammate, Bobby Dattilo earned a spot on the ECAC’s Weekly Honor Roll. He dominated the faceoff X, winning a career-high 68 percent of his restarts, and collected game-high honors in ground balls in the 12-9 victory over the Raiders. He matched his career-high with 17 faceoff wins and scooped up nine ground balls, one off his career-high, to lead the Statesmen to their 24th consecutive win over Colgate.

Through two games, Dattilo has won 61.4 percent of his faceoffs and boasts a team-high 14 ground balls. He is seventh in the nation in ground balls per game (7.0) and 12th in faceoff winning percentage.

Hobart (1-1) is back in action at 1 p.m. on March 13, when the Statesmen visit No. 20 Bucknell (2-2). WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca) will broadcast the game. Online, fans can follow the action with Live Stats on the Bucknell Web site.

Kevin Curtin
Hobart Lacrosse
Facing the toughest defense in the nation, Curtin posted his third consecutive hat trick. He completed his collegiate career with a three-goal performance at Bryant on Thursday. The Bulldogs came into the contest allowing just 6.44 goals per game, but the Statesmen netted nine goals, the second highest total against Bryant this season. Curtin capped his career 11th in career goals and career points and 12th in career assists.

William Smith Rowing
DiPalma served as the coxswain for the William Smith varsity eight that finished second in the petite final at the ECAC Championships on Sunday. In their morning heat, the Herons committed a false start, but then turned in the third fastest time of the heats (out of 20 crews in three heats). William Smith covered the course in 6:59.640, then logged a time of 6:57.688 in the petite final, second only to Division I New Hampshire.
