When Team Canada begins its World Lacrosse Championship defense this summer in Manchester, England, Hobart junior goalie Evan Kirk will be wearing the familiar red maple leaf proudly. Kirk is one of three goalies and one of only two current collegians to earn a spot on Team Canada’s 23-man roster.

The Statesmen’s No. 2 goalie, Kirk has played in six games over the past two-plus seasons, stopping 12 of the 13 shots he's faced for a 1.66 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

Kirk could square off against teammates this summer. Senior midfielder Mike Lazore, junior attackman Mike White, and attackman Tyler Hill ’09 are among the 40 players under consideration for a spot on the Iroquois National Team.

The 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships will be contested July 15-24.
