On Mon., April 26, the William Smith field hockey team and the Hobart hockey team will host a fund-raiser for earthquake ravaged Haiti. The teams will accept donations for Direct Relief International at the gate.

The Herons and Statesmen will play a field hockey game, beginning at 7:30 p.m., on the McCooey Field turf, “Hockey for Haiti.” The teams are collaborating on what they hope will become an annual charitable event. The Statesmen and Herons will be divided into two coed teams.

On Jan. 12, 2010, Haiti was devastated by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. Like people around the world, the student-athletes of Hobart and William Smith have generously supported the efforts to rebuild the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Student-athletes and HWS fans have texted donations to the American Red Cross.

On April 30, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committees of Hobart and William Smith are co-sponsoring a fund-raising effort. Student will be asked to donate their dinner to the Haiti relief efforts.
