Six members of the Hobart rowing team were named to the inaugural ECAC/National Invitational Rowing Championships Stewards’ All Academic Team. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

The following Statesmen earned a spot on the team:


Hobart advanced all four of its entries to the grand finals at the ECAC/NIRC, posting two fourth place finishes and two fifth place finishes. As a team, the Statesmen finished third in the points standings behind Division I Michigan and Trinity (Conn.).

The ECAC/NIRC was the final event of the season for Hobart. The Statesmen won their fifth consecutive Liberty League Championship and claimed a gold and two silver medals at the New York State Championships this season.

Joe Gibbons
Hobart Basketball
Gibbons averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen. He scored 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two steals at RPI. The following afternoon, Gibbons had 15 points and seven rebounds at Skidmore. For the week, he shot 64 percent from the floor and made all five of his free throw attempts.

Mitchell went 4-0 at the Smith Round Robin over the weekend. Playing in the No. 7 and No. 8 spots in the order, she posted 3-0 sweeps of her opposition against Smith (a 6-3 Heron win), Northeastern (W 8-1), and Wellesley (L, 3-6). Vassar's Katherine Cornish was the only player to take a game from Mitchell this weekend. After dropping the opening game 11-9, Mitchell bounced back with 11-7, 11-3, 11-4 wins to take the match 3-1. She has the team's best individual record this winter (7-5) and has won five straight matches.
