Eight members of the William Smith rowing team earned a spot on the inaugural ECAC/National Invitational Rowing Championships Stewards' All Academic Team. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.

The following Herons merited All-Academic recognition:

• Junior Christine Babcock, psychology major
• Senior Jamie Billington, sociology major
• Junior Rebecca Charlton, cultural anthropology major
• Senior Kirsten Cooper, Asian languages and cultures major
• Senior Abbie DiPalma, mathematics major
• Sophomore Sara Hollingshead, media and society major
• Junior Alaria Pizzo, English major
• Sophomore Maggie Smith, architectural studies major
  

William Smith's third varsity eight finished sixth in the ECAC/NIRC grand final. The varsity eight took second place in the petite final, while the second varsity eight was fifth in its petite final.

The Herons will conclude the 2009-10 season May 28-29, in the NCAA Division III Rowing Championship in Sacramento, Calif.
