Senior coxswain Abbie DiPalma took home the S. Ford Weiskittel Most Valuable Oarswoman Award at the annual Heron Awards Banquet. First-year Syd Cheney was recognized with the Rowing Coach’s Award.

DiPalma led the varsity eight to a third-place finish in the petite final of the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships and was named a CRCA/Pocock second team All-American this season. She helped guide the varsity four to a victory in the HWS Challenge on the Canal. DiPalma was a member of the varsity eight that won a bronze medal at the New York State Championships. She earned a spot on the ECAC/NIRC Steward’s All-Academic team, the Liberty League All-Academic Team and she also earned William Smith’s Evaleen C. Harrison ’19 Scholar-Athlete Award.

Cheney was the stroke for the novice eight this season. She helped the crew to victories over Ithaca and Rochester. Cheney led the novice eight to earn the 2010 Liberty League Novice Crew of the Year. She also helped the third varsity eight earn a Liberty League Boat of the Week award after its silver medal performance at the New York State Championships.

Casey Sherwin
William Smith Swimming and Diving
Sherwin produced several strong performances at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational, leading the Herons to a second place finish in the six-team field. She swam the lead leg for the winning 200-yard medley relay team (30.65 split, 1:58.43 overall), won the 50 backstroke (30.87), finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:05.48) and took fourth in the 50 freestyle (27.04).
Greg Ciciola
Hobart Ice Hockey
Ciciola netted a pair of goals in a 1-0-1 ECAC West weekend for the Statesmen. On Friday at Neumann, his goal gave Hobart a 2-1 second period lead in a contest that eventually ended in a tie. The following night against the Knights, Ciciola's team-leading 10th goal of the season tied the game at 1-all and kick-started a string of four unanswered goals by the Statesmen.
