Three Hobart lacrosse players were among the 31 student-athletes to earn a place on the 2010 ECAC Lacrosse League All-Academic Team. Attackman Kevin Curtin ’10, goalie Max Silberlicht ’10, and midfielder Mike Suits ’10 were recognized for their outstanding work on the field and in the classroom.

The team’s captain, Curtin began the season as one of only 20 nominees for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. He led the Statesmen with 22 goals and 36 points this season. Curtin scored a season-high five points at Denver and matched that effort in his final home game against Air Force. He finished his career with 55 goals and 29 assists. Curtin was presented with the Hobart lacrosse Van Arsdale Award for superior scholarship, leadership, and determination at the annual Block H Awards Banquet.

Curtin graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in economics. A member of the Druid and Chimera honor societies, he was a Dean’s List member, four-time Hobart Dean’s scholar, three-time ECAC All-Academic team member and Statesmen scholar, a Hale scholar, a Trustee scholar, and a two-time Alumni Association award winner.

Silberlicht played in 50 career games, posting a 9.24 goals against average, 553 saves, a .576 save percentage, and an 18-27 record. His win total and GAA are Hobart Division I career records, while his save total and save percentage are second. Silberlicht broke the Statesmen DI mark for GAA in a season with an 8.05 in 2008 and lowered the standard to 7.91 in 2009. At the Block H Banquet, he was presented with the lacrosse team’s C.R.A.G. Outstanding Defensive Player Award and the department’s Francis L. Babe Kraus ’24 Memorial Award as the most outstanding senior athlete.

Silberlicht graduated with a bachelor’s degree in movement studies. A Dean’s List honoree, he was also 2010 USILA Scholar All-American and a 2006-07 Hobart Deans Scholar. Silberlicht was been named to the ECAC All-Academic team three times.

A starter in nine of Hobart’s 14 games this season, Suits started a least one game in each of his four seasons on campus. He produced career-highs for goals (10), assists (4), points (14), and extra-man goals (4) as a senior. Suits notched a season-high three points in a 12-9 win at Colgate and also recorded three points in a 17-12 loss to then No. 7 Loyola. In 56 career games, he logged 30 goals and 12 assists for 42 points.

Suits graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He was a Dean’s List student, a Hobart Dean’s Scholar, and a Hale Scholar. Like Silberlicht and Curtin, Suits was a three-time ECAC All-Academic team member.

To be selected to the ECAC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average through four semesters and be a starter or significant contributor, participating in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
