Kevin McDonald
Bookmark and Share
Geneva native Kevin McDonald was recently hired to serve as an equipment coordinator for the Hobart and William Smith Colleges athletics departments. He replaces Bill Ryan, who retired in December following 22 years on the job.

A 2005 graduate of Geneseo State with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, McDonald has worked as shipping and receiving coordinator and supply clerk at The College Store since 2006. This past winter he also worked part-time for the Geneva Recreation Department at the Skating Rink. Part of his duties there included game day maintenance and management for Hobart hockey games.

McDonald graduated from Geneva High School in 2001. He played baseball and hockey for the Panthers, winning the Male Athlete of the Year Award as a senior. McDonald remains active in the Geneva sports community, playing in hockey, softball, and volleyball recreation leagues. He also coached a youth hockey team this past winter.

In his new role as equipment coordinator, McDonald will share responsibility for ordering, issuing, and maintaining uniforms and equipment for Hobart and William Smith’s 22 varsity sports with fellow equipment coordinator Bob Toner.

William Smith Field Hockey
Atwan opened the season with a total of 11 points in two William Smith victories. She netted a pair of goals and assisted on a third, all in the first half, as the Herons defeated Oswego 7-0 on Wednesday. Three days later, Atwan produced her first career hat trick, all in the second half, to rally William Smith from a two-goal halftime deficit to a 4-2 victory. Her 11 points is nearly double her point total from her first two seasons combined and nearly halfway to her point total last year (25).

Hayes scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Statesmen to a 2-1 win at two-time defending national champion and top-ranked Messiah College on Friday. He also scored the game-winner in a 6-1 triumph at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Hayes is tied for the team lead in goals.
