Frary earns league weekly award

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore Whitney Frary was selected the Liberty League Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Performer of the Week by the league office this afternoon. She scored two goals in a 1-0-1 week for the No. 6 Herons.

In a 1-1 double overtime tie at Skidmore on Friday, Frary scored on a penalty kick to tie the game in the 78th minute. She is 2-for-2 in penalty kicks this season. On Saturday in a 2-1 win at Union, Frary scored the Herons' first goal. She is now tied for third on the team with three goals this season.

William Smith returns to action on Sept. 29 for a non-conference match at Rochester starting at 4:30 p.m.

The contest will feature the two winningest coaches in NCAA Division III women's soccer. The Yellowjackets' Terry Gurnett is in his 34th season and has a record of 415-133-63, while the Herons' Aliceann Wilber is in her 31st season and sports a record of 412-119-47.

This will be the 37th meeting between the two with Wilber holding an 18-12-6 series lead.
