Hobart first-year midfielder
Alex Love was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week by the conference office today. He produced two goals and an assist against then No. 19 Bucknell on Saturday.
Love's first goal of the day came during the second quarter with the Statesmen short-handed. It's the first time a Hobart player has scored man down since junior
Chris Pedersen scored a shorty at Binghamton on Feb. 24, 2009. Love's second goal came just 69 seconds later, while he set up a third goal just 18 seconds after that. His efforts kick-started a 7-1 Hobart run that gave the Statesmen an 8-7 lead before the Bison rallied for an 11-9 win on Boswell Field.
The only first-year to start all five games this season for Hobart, Love has three goals, an assist, and four ground balls.
Hobart will be back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 when the Statesmen host Bryant for the second game of a five-game homestand. WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) will broadcast the game live. Fans can also follow the action online with
