Hobart’s O-line named to D3football.com Team of the Week

D3football.com named Hobart's offensive line to its Team of the Week presented by Scoutware. Seniors Anthony Coletta, Kelvin Cruz, Brendan Hatlee, and Kyle Sandy, and junior Art Garvey started up front for the Statesmen in a 56-20 win at St. John Fisher on Saturday.

“This is a well-deserved honor,” Offensive Coordinator Kevin DeWall '00 said. “These young men are a hard-working, proud, and selfless group, so this is a very good recognition of their combined efforts and performance on the field. The five starters, along with Jarrid Blades and Alex Bush, tight ends Gregory Clifford and Brent Matazinsky, and fullbacks Juan O'Farrill and Dominique Ellis, did a great job of controlling the line of scrimmage, providing time and space to effectively execute our run and pass offense, and enable our skill players to showcase their abilities.”

The Cardinals came into the game undefeated, ranked fourth in the nation in scoring defense (5.0 ppg), 13th in total defense (205.5 yds/g), and 15th in rushing defense (64.5 yds/g). Thanks to the great protection provided by the line, Hobart produced 213 rushing yards and 278 passing yards (491 yards of total offense), and scored more points in each of the four quarters (14) than Fisher had allowed in two previous games combined (10).

The Statesmen lead the Liberty League in scoring offense (44.5 ppg), passing offense (232.5 yds/g), rushing offense (263.0 yds/g), total offense (495.5 yds/g), first downs (27.5/g), red zone offense (90%), third down conversion (63.3%), and sacks against (0.5/g).

Hobart (2-0) opens Liberty League play at noon on Saturday, Oct. 1, when the Statesmen host defending conference champion St. Lawrence (2-2, 1-0). WHWS-FM (105.7) will broadcast the game live. Fans can also follow the action online with Live Stats and Live Video.
