Statesmen voted No. 10 by D3soccer.com

The Hobart College soccer team was voted No. 10 in the D3soccer.com poll this week. The Statesmen slipped to No. 18 in the NSCAA poll.

Last week Hobart (7-1-0, 0-1 Liberty) defeated Cortland 3-2 on Monday and dropped a 2-1 contest to Clarkson on Saturday. At Cortland, junior Will Abbott scored two goals including the game-winner with just 4:30 remaining in regulation. Junior Ian McGarty also scored his first goal of the season. On Saturday, the Statesmen traveled to Potsdam and were edged by the Golden Knights. Senior Tommy Hayes tied the game at 1 in the 63rd minute, but Clarkson tallied the game-winning goal with just 13.5 seconds left in the match.

Abbott and Reuben Burk lead Hobart with six points apiece. Abbott has tallied three goals, while Burk has recorded two goals and two assists. Senior goalie Charlie Hale is sporting a 0.71 goals against average and an .865 save percentage. He ranks third in the Liberty League with 32 saves and fourth with three shutouts.

The Statesmen will be back in action when they travel to take on Skidmore on Friday, Sept. 30 in a Liberty League match.
