8 Football Statesmen named to 2012 Liberty League All-Academic Team

Eight members of the Hobart College football team were recognized as members of the 2012 Liberty League All-Academic Team.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and be at least a sophomore academically.

The following Statesmen earned a spot on the squad:

Sophomore Patrick Conlan, undeclared
Junior Cory Davis, mathematics
Junior Michael Green, mathematics
Senior Kees Nordin, English and political science
Sophomore Troy Robinson, biochemistry
Senior Nick Strang, economics
Junior Dan Sweeney, chemistry
Senior Nick Zapp, history

It's the third straight year Nordin, Strang and Zapp have earned all-academic honors from the Liberty League. Green received all-academic accolades for the second year in a row. In addition, Strang, Zapp and Green were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team this fall, and Green went on to garner Capital One Academic All-America second team honors.

Hobart completed its first undefeated regular season since 1957 and produced a school record 12 wins against just a single loss. The Statesmen advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Hobart won its eighth Liberty League Championship with an unblemished 7-0 record.
