Hobart lacrosse to make 4 TV appearances in 2012

The Hobart College lacrosse team will play four televised games in 2012. The Statesmen will appear on Time Warner Cable Sports (TWCS) against Siena, Canisius, Syracuse, and Air Force.
 
Hobart opens its 110th varsity season on Sunday, Feb. 19 as part of a tripleheader in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. The Statesmen will square off with the Saints at 5 p.m. TWCS Central New York will produce the game and distribute it to its affiliates in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany and New York City which reaches millions of households. Hobart and Siena will meet for the first time since 1961. The Statesmen are 2-0 against the Saints, who are led by first-year Head Coach and former Hobart Assistant Coach John Svec.
 
The Statesmen visit Canisius at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20. That game is expected to be produced on a tape delay basis by TWCS Buffalo. Hobart holds an 11-1 series lead against the Golden Griffins, including last season's 10-8 win in Geneva.
 
Two of the Statesmen's final three home games of the regular season will be televised. The Syracuse Orange will make the short drive to Boswell Field on Tuesday, April 17. The annual Kraus-Simmons Trophy game will get underway at 7 p.m.
 
On Saturday, April 28, Hobart will close out the regular season on the Boz in a televised ECAC showdown against Air Force. The opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. At halftime of that game, Hobart College will honor the 1982 National Championship Hobart lacrosse team as a Hobart Team of Distinction.
 
Fans should check their local listings to confirm the channel and start time for broadcasts.

On the radio, WEOS/WHWS will broadcast every Hobart game this season. The Siena game and the March 6 contest at Colgate will air on WHWS-FM (105.7) while the other 12 games will be featured on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3).
