2 Statesmen named members of NFF Hampshire Honor Society

Two Hobart College student-athletes are members of the 2012 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Senior offensive linemen Jarrid Blades and Brendan Hatlee were among the 721 college football players honored nationwide for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher throughout their college careers.

Blades is a political science major from Ellenville, N.Y. A three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, he earned a spot on the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Team. He was recently  honored by Happiness House as its Volunteer of the Year.

Hatlee is an American studies major from Horseheads, N.Y. He was named D3football.com second team All-East as a senior and was a two-time All-Liberty League pick. Hatlee earned Hobart's Tyron Football Award for the past two seasons, which goes to the most outstanding lineman.

Blades and Hatlee and their fellow linemen provided the protection for an offense that led the Liberty League in scoring (33.6 ppg), first downs (20.9/g), third down conversion (45.6%), sacks against (1.0/g), and time of possession (33:41). Hobart's offensive line was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week following a 56-20 win at St. John Fisher that saw the Statesmen pile up 491 yards of total offense.

Hobart went 7-2 this season and won its seventh Liberty League Championship, earning a berth in the NCAA Playoffs. Over the past four seasons, the Statesmen have gone 27-11 with two conference titles and two NCAA appearances.

Hobart has had 15 NFF Hampshire Honor Society members since the program was founded in 2007.
