GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team breezed to a 9-0 victory over St. John Fisher in its first dual match of the 2012-13 season. The Cardinals are now 1-6 this year.

Sophomore Teru Greene and senior Kiara Ocasio picked up an 8-3 triumph at No. 1 doubles. Juniors Casey Nicoletti and Kate O'Connor topped their Cardinal opponents 8-0 at No. 2 and sophomores Katie Drinkwater and Kathleen Kennedy notched an 8-1 win at No. 3.

Senior Hallsey Leighton led the Herons with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Katie Pasier at the top singles spot. Sophomore Haley Wolf, first-year Charlotte Federowicz, first-year Sydney Arsenault and first-year Kelley Hartmann blanked their St. John Fisher competition 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 2,4,5, and 6, respectively. Nicoletti topped the Cardinals' Lauren Burke 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2.

The Herons will complete their fall schedule when they take part in the New York State Championships in Ithaca, N.Y., Oct. 12-14.
