HWS sailors compete in ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship

The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team wrapped up the 2012-13 racing season by competing in the Gill/Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association Coed Dinghy Championship in St. Petersburg, Fla. 

The Colleges finished 16th in a field of the top 18 sailing teams in the nation. HWS was 16th in A Division behind the efforts of skipper John Norfleet and crews Bridget Nannig, William Godfrey, and Kathryn Moloney. They produced six top nine finishes in the 18 race series, including a fourth place showing in the third race. In B Division, the Colleges were 17th. HWS used skippers Louis Padnos, Stewart Draheim and Eddie Cox with crews Jane Rew, Catherine Pelo, Moloney and Godfrey for a pair of top nine finishes, including a third place effort in the second race.

The College of Charleston won the championship by 20 points over Georgetown.

HWS has appeared in 14 ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship regattas since 1996, including 11 in a row. The Colleges competed in all three ICSA championships this spring, placing ninth in the team race championship and 14th in the women's dinghy championship.
