All five starters for the Hobart College basketball team were named to the 2013-14 Liberty League All-Academic Team. The Statesmen are the only team in the conference to have all five starters honored for the academic and athletic excellence.

Richie Bonney and
Joe Gibbons and juniors
Trey Blanding,
Andrew Hoy, and
Connor Rehbaum all maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
The 2013-14 Liberty League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Bonney led the Statesmen in scoring and rebounding, producing 20.4 ppg and a league-high 11.0 rpg. Hobart's career scoring leader earned a long list of accolades this season, including the Jostens Trophy and All-American honors from
Basketball Times, D3hoops.com,
DIII News, and the NABC.
Bonney graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and public policy studies. He's a three-time Liberty League All-Academic Team selection, a two-time Capital One Academic All-American, and the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-American of the Year for Division III Men's Basketball.
Gibbons was a three-year starter for the Statesmen after transferring from Rensselaer. He was second on the team in scoring and third in rebounding this season, averaging 14.7 ppg and 4.4 rpg. The two-time Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year was a three time All-Liberty League pick, including first team honors this season. In three seasons, he scored 1,092 points, 19th on Hobart's all-time list.
A two-time Liberty League All-Academic Team member, Gibbons graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in economics.
In his first season as a starter, Blanding led the league in assists and was fourth on the team in scoring, logging 5.2 apg and 11.0 ppg. The economics and philosophy double major is making his second appearance on the Liberty League All-Academic Team.
Hoy was impressive in his first season as a starter. He averaged 1.4 ppg in his first season, but increased his output to 7.9 ppg this season. Hoy was led the Liberty League and was third in the nation in assist-to-turnover (3.96). A biochemistry major, he is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic Team selection.
An All-Liberty League honorable mention, Rehbaum was third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding, contributing 14.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg. He paced the Statesmen in 3-point shooting, knocking down 61 triples. This is the second appearance on the Liberty League All-Academic Team for the sociology major.
Hobart finished the 2013-14 season with a 22-7 record, marking the program's fourth consecutive 20-win season. This year's team went 13-3 in the Liberty League earning its fourth straight regular season title. The Statesmen won the Liberty League tournament for the second year in a row, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. In Hobart's third consecutive NCAA appearance, the Statesmen upset No. 21 Scranton in the first round before falling to eventual national quarterfinalist Morrisville State in the second round.
