Billy Abrams and sophomore
Danny Cabrera were named to the 2013-14 Liberty League All-Academic Team.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically.
A transfer from the U.S. Naval Academy, Abrams played all but three of his matches at the No. 1 spot this year. An All-Liberty League selection, he posted an 8-9 overall record, picking up six victories at No. 1 and going 2-1 at No. 2. Abrams helped Hobart earn a spot in the Conroy Cup Championship match by way of an 11-5, 11-8, 11-13, 13-11 win over MIT and an 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 victory against Stanford in the opening and semifinal reounds, respectively. He is an international relations major.
Cabrera was third on the team with eight wins in his rookie season. He logged an 8-12 overall record, playing at Nos. 3-6. Cabrera posted a 7-5 mark at No. 5. He wrapped up the year winning all three of his matches in the Conroy Cup.
The Statesmen finished 2013-14 with a 7-13 overall record, advancing to the Conroy Cup championship match.
