Josh Wasserman led the Statesmen cross country team across the finish line at the Geneseo Invitational this afternoon. It's the fourth straight race Wasserman has been Hobart's top finisher.

Four Statesmen logged season-best 8-kilometer times at this afternoon's race, as Hobart came in 20th out of 24 teams.

Wasserman, who has improved on his 8k time each week, crossed the finish line in 27:36.2 for 108th out of 316 runners. First-year
William Fletcher who has also lowered his 8k time in each of the last three weeks came in 158th place with a time of 28:36.4. First-year
Jesse Maltese also clocked his season-best 8k time, finishing 195th in 29:04.0. Junior
Jeremiah Piersante posted a career-best 8k of 29:49.9 for 232nd place. Junior
Josh Owens completed Hobart's top five, registering a time of 30:26.7 for 249th place.

Geneseo earned the team title with 17 points. Oswego was second with 108 and RIT claimed third with 130. The Knights' Isaac Garcia-Cassani took first overall with a time of 24:39.5.

The Statesmen will compete next on their home course, Seneca Lake State Park, in the Cross Country Only Conference Championship on Saturday, Oct. 15. The men's race is scheduled for noon.
