Herons, Statesmen to compete in NCAA Atlantic Regional

The Hobart and William Smith Colleges' cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 12 hosted by Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J.
 
The women's race is set to begin at 11 a.m., and the men's race will begin at noon. The course is at the University's West Campus.
 
Sophomore Eva Gurian, this week's Liberty League Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week, has led the Herons across the finish line at four meets. Most recently, she placed sixth at the ECAC Championships, helping William Smith to a third place finish. Gurian logged her season-best 6-kilometer time of 24:24.9 at the Geneseo Invitational.
 
Hobart cross country first-year Josh Wasserman, the Liberty League Rookie of the Week, has led Hobart in seven races this year. Last weekend, he was the top Statesman finisher at the ECAC Championships, coming in 27th place and helping Hobart to an eighth place finish. Wasserman posted his season-best 8-kilometer time of 27:36.2 at the Geneseo Invitational.
 
The top two teams in each race qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. Sixteen other at-large bids will be awarded from the nation's eight regions. The top seven individuals from each region not on one of the qualifying teams will earn an invitation to the national championships.
