A program record 17 members of the William Smith College soccer team garnered a spot on the Liberty League's 2016 All-Academic team. The Herons and Vassar tied for the most student-athletes honored.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 through the end of the 2016 spring semester.

Callahan, Diehl, Randaccio, Smith and Westerman are three-time honorees. Campbell, Kogelmann, Lohr, MacLean, Ruane, and Spiegel collected the honors for the second year in a row. Additionally, Campbell, Diehl, Kogelmann and Romines were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans this year. It's the second year in a row Campbell garnered Academic All-America honors.Randaccio collected CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second straight year.

William Smith finished the season with a 21-1-0 overall record, advancing to the NCAA tournament quarterfinals. The Herons went 8-0-0 in Liberty League play and earned their 10th straight conference regular season and tournament titles. William Smith's 21 victories rank second on the Heron single season list. The 2016 team set program single season records in points (243), goals (86) and assists (71).
