CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomore
Chloe Ethier was the top Heron finisher in the 36-hole William Smith Invitational played on the par 72 layout at Clifton Springs Country Club this weekend.
Playing as an individual, Ethier shot a career-best matching 90 on Saturday. She closed the tournament with a 93, finishing in a tie for 19th place in a field of 59 golfers. Junior
Rachel McKay was two strokes back for the weekend, carding rounds of 91 and 94 to place 26th. Senior

Tess Madarasz tied for 30th place, shooting a 190 for the weekend. It was O'Brien's career best 36-hole score.
The Herons were sixth in the team standings out of 11 teams, 12 strokes ahead of seventh place Suffolk University.
Ithaca College won the team title by 10 strokes over SUNY Cortland. The Red Dragons had a three-stroke lead after the first round, but the Bombers made a 12 stroke improvement in Round 2 to pull out the victory. Hamilton was third followed by St. Lawrence and Union. After William Smith and Suffolk, Elmira, St. John Fisher, Keuka and Nazareth rounded out the field.
Cortland's Danielle Bambola and Elmira's Audrey Clarke were co-medalists. Bambola took the first round lead with a 79, one stroke ahead of Clarke. On Sunday, Clarke had an 82 while Bambola turned in an 83. Ithaca's Indiana Jones was third. After shooting an 85 on Saturday, she fired a tournament-low 78, finishing one stroke behind Bambola and Clarke.
The Herons will be back in action on Sept. 24-25 when they compete in the Allegheny Invitational.
