Mekayla Montgomery were named to the IWLCA All-America teams today. Moore earned a spot on the second team, while Montgomery was selected to the third team.

It's the second year in a row two Herons have been named IWLCA All-Americans with
Allie Flaherty '17 and
Sarah Honan '17 earning first team honors last year.

A two-time all-region selection and a three-time All-Liberty League pick, Moore garnered All-America accolades for the first time in her career. She led the Herons in goals, assists, points, free position goals, ground balls and caused turnovers and ranked second on the team in draws. Moore played in all 20 games in her senior season, posting career-highs in goals (50), assists (25), points (75) and draws (37). She added 45 ground balls and tied for seventh on the Heron single season list with 32 caused turnovers this spring. Moore registered at least a point in 19 games this year, chipping in three or more points 13 times. She logged a season-high eight points twice. The first time on six goals and two assists in a 14-9 win over RIT and again on seven goals and an assist in an 18-8 win over Endicott in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The 2018 Liberty League Tournament MVP played in 78 career games. She finished her Heron lacrosse career ranked third in program history in draws (122) and caused turnovers (96). Moore ranks 10th on the William Smith list for career points (188) and is tied for 12th in goals (138) and tied for 14th in assists (50). She is also tied for 16th in career ground balls (148).

A transfer from Gettysburg College, Montgomery started all 19 games she played in her first season of athletic eligibility at William Smith this spring. She was named to the IWLCA All-Empire Region first team and the All-Liberty League first team. Montgomery also earned a spot on the 2018 Liberty League All-Tournament Team.

Montgomery led the Herons with 67 draws, shared a team-high with 45 ground balls and ranked second with 29 caused turnovers. Her season draw total was just five off the Heron single season record. She also finished the year tied for 14th on the William Smith single season caused turnover list. Montgomery won five or more draws in 10 games this spring, including a season-high seven in three games. The seven draws tie for third most in a game in Heron lacrosse history. She notched a season-high six caused turnovers, won seven draws and picked up five ground balls in a 14-7 win over RPI in a Liberty League Tournament semifinal. She also won six draws, had two ground balls and five caused turnovers in the Herons' NCAA tournament win over the Gulls.

William Smith finished the year with a 15-5 overall record and a 9-1 mark in the Liberty League. The Herons won their third consecutive Liberty League regular season and tournament titles. William Smith made its third straight NCAA tournament appearance and advanced to the second round.
