Row For Community

Row for CommunityRow for Community is a Community Service Fundraising event partnering William Smith College’s rowing team with the local community. Each year, students on the team solicit donations from friends and family. In return, each rower, coxswain, and coach will row for one hour on an indoor rowing machine. This year's event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Since 2003, Row For Community (formerly known as Row for Humanity) has donated over $42,500 to the Geneva Community.

The William Smith rowing team has formed a Community Engagement Committee which is in charge of disbursing at least $1,000 to local organizations. Grants are of two types: small ($1 to $150) or large ($151 to $1000). Award decisions will be based on, but not limited to, the long-term impact of the project, numbers of individuals impacted, and/or the depth to which individuals are affected. Site visits may be required depending on the competitiveness of the pool. In the past, our committee has also been drawn to proposals which impact the youth of our community though engagement with youth is not a requirement for application or award.  If you have been awarded a grant in the previous calendar year, please wait one year before applying again.

For more information, contact William Smith Rowing Head Coach Sandra Chu by e-mail or by phone at (315) 781-3527.

Interested community organizations can download a grant application and instructions. The deadline for 2019 Grants is February 28, 2019. Grant winners will be announced on March 6, 2019.
