Peak Performance Plan
Peak Performance Plan
The Peak Performance Plan is a comprehensive educational initiative to enhance the lives of Heron student-athletes and coaches. The curriculum includes personal and athletic development through the education and empowerment of women and coaches of female student-athletes.

William Smith coaches, HWS staff, alumnae, current student-athletes, a sport psychologist, and other guest speakers will lead seminars in their fields of expertise. Personal enhancement seminars will be provided by class year. Student-athletes interested in furthering their leadership skills will participate in programming as Rising Stars or Core20 members.

Rising Stars will be “high potential” first-years and sophomores. The program will provide future leaders with insights, strategies and skills necessary to become effective leaders. Leadership by example will be emphasized. Core20 will be “proven” veteran (junior and senior) leaders. The program will teach critical skills and insights necessary to be responsible and respected leaders. Vocal leadership will be emphasized.

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
enhances the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Student-Athlete Health Awareness Peer Educators (SHAPE), in collaboration with coaches and team leaders, facilitate discussion among teammates on goals, values, and conduct as they relate to achieving peak performance academically and athletically. SHAPE members are trained by the Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Programs staff.
