The Joe Arnitz '66 Memorial Sportsmanship Award was presented for the first time at the 2017 Block H Dinner. The award honors the sportsmanship, teamwork and loyalty that marked the Hobart career of Joe Arnitz, co-captain of the 1965 Hobart football team and a lifelong secondary school teacher and coach. The Arnitz Award recognizes those who demonstrate proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect and a sense of fellowship with one's teammates and competitors. The award is presented annually to a Hobart student-athlete or team for superior sportsmanship in the athletic arena. The award was endowed by Joe's teammates, classmates and friends as part of the Hobart Class of 1966's 50th Reunion.
