Hobart College first-year Nick Broadwater was tabbed the ECAC West Hockey Goalie of the Week, for his role in leading the Statesmen to two non-conference victories last week. Senior Blake Bonham and first-year Chris Cannizzaro were named to the Weekly Honor Roll as well, after guiding Hobart past Brockport State 4-2 on Thursday and then 12th-ranked Curry 4-2 on Saturday.

Broadwater collected 70 saves in Hobart’s two wins. He posted a .946 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average, improving his record to 6-4-2. Broadwater stopped 32 shots against the Golden Eagles, and picked up 38 saves vs. the Colonels. Overall, he ranks second in the ECAC West in both goals against average (2.61) and save percentage (.916). This is the third time Broadwater has earned a weekly award from the league office this winter.

Both Bonham and Cannizzaro netted two goals for the Statesmen last week. Bonham scored a late insurance tally in the win over Brockport, and notched the game-tying goal with 6:30 remaining in the third period to spark Hobart’s eventual victory over Curry. Bonham has totaled four goals and four assists so far this season.

Cannizzaro scored twice against the Colonels, including the game-winner with 27 seconds left in regulation. His first goal of the day tied the game at 1-all in the second period. Cannizzaro currently leads the team in points (18) and ranks second in goals (9). In the ECAC West, he ranks second in freshman scoring, fifth in goals, seventh in both points and power-play goals (4), and ninth in assists (9).

The Statesmen will wrap up their non-conference schedule this weekend, Jan. 15-16, when they host 14th-ranked Wentworth for two contests. Faceoff on Friday is set for 7 p.m., while Saturday’s game will begin at 4 p.m. Fans unable to make it to The Cooler can listen live on WHWS-FM (105.7), or follow along online with Live Stats.

DiPalma served as the coxswain for the William Smith varsity eight that finished second in the petite final at the ECAC Championships on Sunday. In their morning heat, the Herons committed a false start, but then turned in the third fastest time of the heats (out of 20 crews in three heats).
