GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College hockey team fell to 13th-ranked Manhattanville 3-2 in overtime, in an ECAC West contest tonight at The Cooler. The Statesmen move to 9-9-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the conference, while the Valiants improve to 15-4-0 on the season and 7-2-0 in the ECAC West.

Hobart broke open a scoreless tie in the sixth minute of the second period, and tallied again in the 14th minute to seize a 2-0 lead. Senior Christopher Bower notched his seventh goal of the year at the 5:46 mark, set up by first-year Brad Richard and senior Aleksey Koval, while first-year David Stevens connected for his first collegiate goal at the 13:43 mark. First-year Cam Miller recorded the assist on the second Statesmen goal.

Manhattanville answered with a goal in the 17th minute of the second stanza, as Matt Piegza tallied on an assist from Arlen Marshall. The Valiants went on to even the game at 2-all just over 10 minutes into the third period. Mickely Lang found Evan Michalchuk for the game-tying score. The remainder of the final period was back-and-forth, but neither team could find the back of the net.

Niklas Berntsson scored the game-winner for Manhattanville just 43 seconds into the overtime period. Dillon Henningson and Marshall recorded the helpers on the quick tally.

The Valiants held a 39-24 advantage in shots. Neither team capitalized on their power-play opportunities tonight; Hobart was 0-for-5, while Manhattanville was 0-for-7.

First-year goalie Nick Broadwater collected 36 saves for the Statesmen, while Pierre-Oliver Lemieux stopped 22 shots for the Valiants.

Hobart will be back on the ice on Feb. 6, when the Statesmen travel to sixth-ranked Elmira for an ECAC West game at 7 p.m.
